Borderlands 3 Next Update Will Improve The Endgame With Mayhem Mode 2.0

A new update to Borderlands 3 will be coming on April 23rd. It will include a few things, of the most notable is the revamp to Mayhem Mode.

Mayhem Mode is the post-game mode that adds random modifiers that makes the game harder, but the loot drops much better. The feature is getting a full overhaul, now dubbed Mayhem Mode 2.0.

The nice quality of life change is that Mayhem Mode can now be accessed in the ECHO Device character menu. So no need to double back to Sanctuary III just to turn it off, or bump the level up or down.

Mayhem mode will now have 25 different modifiers- all new- with four tiers of difficulties. Easy modifiers can be both good and bad- Big Kick Energy increases weapon damage while also increasing recoil and spread. There’s also Galaxy Brain- a fancy new name for big head mode which obviously increase the head size so crits are easier.

On the medium difficulty, you may get Floor Is Lava- which will turn the floor into literal damage-dealing lava if you stopped moving. An example of a hard modifier is Healing Drones- pesky drones that heals the enemies.

Instead of four, Mayhem Mode now can go up to level 10. And loot will be much better at higher levels- even if it’s the same game, the stats will be better. There will also be eight new Legendary weapons dropped by certain bosses, but only on Mayhem Level 6 and higher.

If you’ve finished Borderlands 3 already and need a reason to revisit it, this is a good time. The level cap has been bumped to level 57, and alongside this change is a new limited-time event: Revenge Of The Cartels.
