Borderlands 3 Might Be Coming Out On September 13th, Possibly Epic Games Store Exclusive On PC?

More information about Borderlands 3, which has finally been officially announced, will come tomorrow. But apparently, a series of now-deleted tweets may have revealed the release date early. Or is it?

The tweet comes from the official Borderlands account but has now been deleted. Though there is an archive of it here.

Plus, Wario64  posted the promo video for the upcoming looter-shooter originally attached to another now-deleted tweet. There is a logo of the Epic Games Store, but none for Steam, which may imply the game will launch on PC via Epic Games Store.

While the tweets have been deleted, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford chimed in on the matter of store exclusives on Twitter as well. He clarified that any decision to put Borderlands 3 on any store is decided by publisher 2K.

He personally is okay with exclusives, saying “To me, exclusives are fine when they come[with] advantages and when they are short – say, six months.”

2K’s sister brand Private Division will launch their games like The Outer Worlds on Epic Games Store first. Plus, Borderlands 3 is running on Unreal, and Epic is encouraging games made by its own engine to release on their store with bigger payouts for the publishers and developers. So it would make sense should Borderlands 3 be an Epic Games Store limited-time exclusive.

Whatever the case, we shall learn more official information, including the release date, tomorrow.
