Borderlands 3 Hotfix Buffs Up Maliwan And Atlas Guns

Borderlands 3 has a hotfix that addresses game balance of the looter-shooter. This does not require a version update, rather it is downloaded and stored in the cache in each play session. Essentially, the reason why you will get “game update available” prompt on the pause menu if you go out of the main menu really fast.

This hotfix mostly addresses gun balancing, with much-needed buffs to several manufacturers. Maliwan and Atlas guns have strong gimmicks that made their base damage low- but maybe too low. All Atlas weapons get a straight 25% damage buff while Maliwan gets a 25% damage buff and a 20% fire rate increase, to compensate the spooling startup that their weapons have.

Sniper rifles, in general, are getting easier to use, with improvements to crit damage (up 20%), fire rate (15%), aim down sights time reduction (-15%) and reduce time to equip (-20%). Jakobs and Torgue pistols are getting their damage nerfed by 15% while Tediore, Dahl and Children Of The Vault pistols get buffed (20% for COV, 15% for the rest).

There are also buffs to Jakobs assault rifles (20%), Dahl SMGs )105), Vladof heavy weapons (25%) and Tidiore Shotguns with E-tech (50%).

The Vault Hunters also got balance changes. Zane gets a much-needed buff, with increased damage for his digi-clone (38%) and drone (50%). FL4K’s Guerillas in the Mist passive ability gets a bit nerfed, with bonus to crit damage is now 25% instead of 50%, and its duration getting cut from 8 to 6 seconds. Amara’s Guardian Angel passive now heals 50% instead of full health but the damage penalty for Glamour is reduced to 10%.

The hotfix is now live. Just wait in the main menu for a bit (and enjoy that excellent music) and it will be applied automatically.
