Audi has revealed its long-teased new Vision Gran Turismo car, the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo. As part of VGT where car manufacturers are tasked to designed the ideal GT car, Audi responded with an electric-powered race car.
The e-tron VGT shares a lot of design elements, including colours, to the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO, a remarkable race car back that raced in the late ’80s and early 90’s.
The car will be available in Gran Turismo Sport today, an update is being pushed at the time of writing and will be available once the servers are up at 10PM Malaysian time (+8GMT). The electric-powered version will also be accompanied with a hybrid version “in order to enable an extended deployment in (championship) races”, which should mean the latter will not be another Gr. X car.
Audi is also debuting a one-of-a-kind drivable concept car this weekend at the upcoming Formula E race at Rome on April 14th as well.
Gran Turismo has been a platform for car manufacturers to reveal their new concept cars, with many VGT cars now becoming real- the Bugatti VGT is the starting point to what we now know as the Bugatti Chiron, as well as the car we see here.
