ASUS TUF FX505D And ROG Zephyrus G Gaming Laptops Featuring AMD Processors and Nvidia Graphics Cards Are Coming To Malaysia

An unholy matrimony

241

ASUS Malaysia has launched a series of new laptops powered by AMD Ryzen. This includes the new refresh for ROG Zephyrus and ASUS TUF gaming laptops, which was announced globally not long ago.

While the APUs are from AMD, the GPUs featured on these new laptops are from Nvidia, utilising the RTX and GTX 16-series.

It’s rare to see the unholy matrimony of AMD and Nvidia on an OEM machine. Which makes these new ASUS laptops stand out more.

The new ROG Zephyrus G bucks the trend was seen in the slim laptop line and cuts all the superfluous bells and whistles. There’s no need for extreme cooling measures that require the keyboard to be placed at the bottom edge, no fancy detachable numpad/touchpad and no need of an extra webcam attachment. There’s not even the trademark swivel mechanic that expands the laptop thickness for more cooling vents.

Basically, this is the no-nonsense version of ROG’s slim gaming laptop line. Its understated look, with all the extra features trimmed out and the use of AMD’s 2nd-gen Ryzen Mobile, it also is the most affordable Zephyrus right now.

Here are the specs for the ROG Zephyrus G (GA502D-UAL035T):

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7-3750H
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX1660Ti Max-Q, 6GB GDDR6 VRAM
  • RAM: 8GB DDR4
  • Storage: PCIE NVME 512GB M.2 SSD
  • Display: 15.6″ 1080p IPS panel, 120Hz refresh rate
  • Price: RM4,999

The new ASUS TUF FX505D, not to be confused with the FX505G from last year, gets 5 different variants all with a 2nd-gen Ryzen Mobile APU. The most expensive has an RTX card with the cheapest featuring the new entry-level gaming GPU from Nvidia, the GTX 1650. There’s a lot to choose here fit for any sort of budget.
