Assetto Corsa Rally, the Early Access title developed by Supernova Games Studios with Kunos Simulazioni, has released version 0.3 with one big feature: dynamic snow.
While rally games have featured snow courses before, ACR allows snowfall to be dynamic and in turn change the characteristics of the stages. Temperature falling down below 0°C now matters as that’s when snow starts raining down, and colder surfaces due to the temperature affects tarmac grip, it’ll be way more slidey. Temperature can vary based on location, time of day and altitude so stages going upwards will likely see more snowfall, and challenging.
Dynamic snow is introduced in the new Monte Carlo stages arriving with this update. Now it makes sense when the previous update adds an “ice” stage rather than a “snow” one. The dynamic snow is currently in effect only on the Monte Carlo stages.
The two Monte Carlo stages, the fabled rally that regularly opens the World Rally Championship season, are all laser-scanned. With unpredictable weather, a mix of snow, ice and asphalt terrain, it’s a challenging rally even for the best drivers in the world. The two Monte Carlo stages being added are Col de Turini and Sisteron.
In addition, new winter and snow tyre compounds have now been added.

The two new cars being added are also on theme. For fans of classic rally, we have the Monte Carlo-winning Lancia Fulvia Coupé 1.6 HF Gr. 4. The 1972 car has a V4 engine (a rarity to see these days) with just about 130HP and it’s front-wheel drive. These are specs are, to use a gaming term, not meta, these days, but should make for a fun drive. For the modern enthusiasts, there’s the Škoda Fabia RS Rally2.
Assetto Corsa Rally is out now in Early Access on PC (Steam).
