Skate 3, the 2010 skateboarding game from the now-defunct Black Box Studios, closed its servers in 2016. But reports from various players has shown that the servers have been miraculously turned online again.

Many of its online features are now available again as a result.
This has sparked again rumours of a potential sequel, especially with E3 only coming in a few days. The #skate4 hashtag has become a very long campaign for fans to rally for support of another sequel, sometimes to humorous results. Skateboarding games had a huge following in the late 90’s to early 00’s thanks to the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series. Skate takes the familiar formula but radically changed the control scheme, requiring analog flicks, which makes it a more grounded take on the genre.
Meanwhile, there is an indie game called Session in development trying to recapture the vibes of Skate.
