Bandai Namco ACE has returned to the spotlight after quite a hiatus, as they announced a new Ace Combat game during the recent 2025 The Game Awards.
Setting in 2029, a good 10 years after the events of Ace Combat 7, it sees The Federation of Central Usea (FCU) has fallen under a lightning invasion by the Republic of Sotoa, and you get to see the comotion as a fighter pilot, who’s adrift at sea in a rescue boat until an outdated aircraft carrier, Endurance, pulls you aboard as the Wings of Theve.
One of the unique views so far for this game, based on the trailer, is that it’s going for a Point-of-View shot for the cutscenes, which is quite novel for this series, so it could be interesting to see how the intermissions briefing are done when the game launches.
Along with that, the Steam page also reveals that the game will support online Co-op, a welcome return since it’s inclusion back in the PlayStation 3 days via Ace Combat Infinity.
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series Consoles and PC in 2026.
