Lenovo has revealed the second generation of its portable PC gaming machine, the Lenovo Legion Go.
Unofficially dubbed as the Lenovo Legion Go 2, this is the proper refresh to original Lenovo Legion Go, the one with the removable controllers (the non-removable ones are the Lenovo Legion Go S).
The refresh swaps the Z1 Extreme processor of the predecessor for the newer AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme, comes with a larger battery at 74Whr (the previous Legion Go had a 24Whr battery in comparison) and the detachable controllers got a redesign.
The display sees a drop in max resolution (1920 x 1200 vs 2560 x 1600 of the original), but it’s now an OLED panel screen instead of an IPS display.
Storage-wise, the Lenovo Legion Go 2 can go up to 2TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, with a microSD slot as well.

The most interesting part of the Legion Go is the Nintendo Switch-esque detachable controllers. The Legion TrueStrike controllers that comes with the Legion Go 2 have been redesigned for better ergonomics, and still have the same party tricks. It has hall effect analog sticks which should be more reliable and less if not free from any stick drift issues. And the right controller can be used as a mouse (a trick that predated the Nintendo Switch 2’s mouse feature). Curiously, the new TrueStrike controllers are backwards-compatible with the Legion Go 1. There’s no sign of Lenovo offering the controllers separately, but it’s neat that the revised controllers are locked to just one specific device.
Other neat nice-to-haves on the Legion Go 2 includes a USB port on top as well as on the bottom, a fingerprint reader built into the power button, and a kickstand. The Legion Go 2 runs on Windows 11.
