Your Last-Minute Viewing Preparation Guide To E3 2018

We did all the due diligence so you don't have to!

Welcome to the first part of Gamer Matters’ Electronic Entertainment Expo Extravaganza for 2018! With just days until all the press conferences leading to E3 will be showcased, we made this ultimate guide on every stream you should watch, where to watch, what we know that will be shown on stage so far, and some educated guesses and speculations.

We did all the due diligence so you don’t have to!

Electronic Arts (EA Play)

When?

Sunday, June 10th, 2AM Malaysian time.

Where to watch?

EA.comYouTubeTwitterFacebook, or Instagram

What to expect?

EA has confirmed to be showing Anthem, Battlefield V and more EA Sports titles (Chief among them is FIFA 19). For Anthem, expect more gameplay and some behind-the-scenes look at the game.

Speculations?

Battlefield V should be showing its first multiplayer match gameplay, like previous EA Play presentations before this. EA has been showing one EA Originals title each year, so that could be a safe bet.

Xbox

When?

Monday, June 11th, 4AM

Where to watch?

Mixer

What to expect?

Microsoft has been tight-lipped with what will be showcased at its E3 stage this year. Though we do know that Crackdown 3 is delayed to 2019, previously rumoured but then confirmed by Microsoft.

So let’s move on to speculations.

Speculations?

This should be the year for a Forza Horizon, and given the Canadian Walmart leaks were pretty on point so far, Forza Horizon 4 might be happening. The developers, Playground Games, is also working on an RPG aside from Forza, possibly a Fable game. Maybe we see that as well? The other game suggested by leaks is Gears of War 5. Crackdown 3 has been MIA for some time, now with rumours saying it is being pushed back to 2019.

Also, we might see Microsoft’s impressive mixed reality headset Hololens again, but we still might be not learn nothing when it comes to how it will affect gaming.

Bethesda

When?

Monday, June 11th, 9.30AM

Where to watch?

TwitchYouTubeTwitterFacebook or Bethesda.net

What to expect?

Before E3 starts proper, Bethesda has announced Fallout 76 and Rage 2. The two games will surely be part of Bethesda’s E3 presentation, said to be the longest one yet for the company.

Speculations?

There’s still the case of a Prey DLC/expansion that was teased early this year. Quake Champions has been long in development as an Early Access game, maybe it is now ready for a full release? The game got a big reveal two years ago.

Devolver Digital

When?

Monday, June 11th, 11AM

Where to watch?

Over on Twitch’s official Twitch account

What to expect?

Expect nothing.

Speculations?

Devolver’s E3 presentation is more of a gag making fun of the industry, but they did reveal some games last year. Devolver needs to do either up their craziness of whatever they will be showing or actually announce genuinely cool indie games.

And someone has to be murdered on stage, obviously. But again, just expect nothing and it’ll be a fun ride.

Square Enix

When?

Tuesday, June 12th, 1AM

Where to watch?

YouTube, Twitch, Mixxer

What to expect?

Square Enix is also not saying anything about what it will show. We will know soon enough.

Speculations?

Kingdom Hearts III has to be the leading game of the show. It was teased that a release date announcement is imminent, so it could be announced here. Octopath Traveller might get some love (either here or on Nintendo’s stage). But the bulk of the presentation should be on their western projects. More Shadow Of The Tomb Raider footage. Possibly announcing Crystal Dynamics’ Avengers project? Just Cause 4? (Which just leaked)

It has been two years since Square Enix did an E3 presentation, so they are surely saving some big bombs.

Ubisoft

When?

Tuesday, June 12th, 4AM

Where to watch?

Ubisoft.comYoutubeTwitch and Mixer

What to expect?

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, Beyond Good & Evil 2, Skull and Bones, Starlink: Battle for Atlas and Transference are confirmed to make an appearance. New content for For Honor will be revealed as well.

Speculations?

Ubisoft likes to drop a bomb by the end of its conferences these past years, so maybe a new Splinter Cell will be revealed here? Other than some fun moments (or self-aware cringe), this should a business as usual reveal briefing.

PC Gaming Show

When?

Tuesday, June 12th, 6AM

Where to watch?

pcgamingshow.com
Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/pcgamer
YouTube: https://gaming.youtube.com/c/pcgamer/live
Mixer: https://mixer.com/pcgamer
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pcgamermagazine

What to expect?

Usually a borefest worth skipping, PC Gamer has announced that there will be “more game announcements than in any previous year, many of them coming from the talented indies who help keep the PC the most vibrant gaming platform in the world.” There’s a full post included all the presenters except some surprises that will take the stage.

The list of presenters are as follows:

  • 505 Games
  • Chance Agency
  • Cloud Imperium Games
  • Coffee Stain Studios
  • Crytek
  • Digital Extremes
  • Double Fine
  • Drake’s Cakes
  • Frontier
  • Hi-Rez Studios
  • Klei Entertainment
  • Modern Storyteller
  • Oculus Rift
  • Raw Fury
  • Sega
  • SkyDance Media
  • Starbreeze
  • Square Enix Ltd.
  • Stardock Entertainment
  • Team 17
  • tinyBuild
  • Tripwire Interactive

Speculations?

If the PC Gaming Show can pull a surprise, it should be Cyberpunk 2077 (unless CD Projekt RED gets to present at either Sony’s or Microsoft’s stage). But don’t get your hopes up too much. PC Gaming Show is best experienced with the lowest expectations. But looking at the list, there should be a heavy dose of indies sharing their minutes of fame on the PC Gaming Show.

Playstation

When?

Tuesday, June 12th, 9AM

Where to watch?

live.playstation.com

What to expect?

Playstation has announced four main games to get the spotlight: Death Stranding, Ghost Of Tsushima, The Last Of Us Part II and Marvel’s Spider-Man.

Outside of that, they have also been announcing something everyday leading up to their E3 briefing. Which includes Tetris Effect and Days Gone release date.

Speculations?

Playstation and Capcom are best buddies when it comes to revealing games, so the long-rumoured Devil May Cry 5 might take center stage similar to last year’s Monster Hunter: World reveal. It’s most likely we won’t see much indie games taking the stage this time. Activision might bring in more footage of Call Of Duty Black Ops 4, Destiny 2’s latest expansion and a new look at that Spyro Reignited Trilogy remaster.

And hopefully, something, anything new from From Software.

Nintendo

When?

Wednesday, 13th June, 12AM

Where?

Nintendo’s website

What to expect?

Nintendo does not tease anything of what’s included in the E3 Nintendo Direct. However, we do know that Splatoon 2 and the new Super Smash Bros. will be shown after the Direct.

Speculations?

There’s a leak going out already suggesting Fortnite among others are headed to the Switch. Nintendo might be showing off more 3rd-party games to bolster their software lineup something along the lines of FIFA 19 on Switch or Octopath Traveller.

Of course, there should be new character reveals for Smash. Please let it be one from Dark Souls.

The Gamer Matters crew has also prepared an E3 bingo card. You can play along with us and see how wrong our predictions and speculations are.
