Contra Return, the free-to-play mobile game based on the classic 2D shoot-em-up series, is now open for pre-register in Southeast Asia.
Developed by Konami and Tencent’s Timi Studios, the game initially launched in China in 2016 and recently launched in Taiwan. Thanks to publishers Garena, this will be the first time it will be available in English.
Players from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand will share the same server together.
First shown off at FV X SEA Majors months back, it’s a new take on Contra. It still features the same gameplay from the series, including two-player co-op with a friend online, familiar levels, characters and bosses to fight. But there are now many RPG (and free-to-play) mechanics. There’s also competitive PVP (1v1, 2v2, 3v3) with one-button skills and ultimate abilities different for each character. There’s also a boss challenge mode and daily challenges to do.
Regular updates are planned that should add more features over time.
