The Yakuza series has recieved a resurgence of interest starting last year with the English release of Yakuza 0, followed by a barrage of other English releases- Yakuza Kiwami last August, Yakuza 0 this March (except NA and EU which was delayed to April) and Yakuza Kiwami 2 coming this August. The Japanese releases are also not stopping the Yakuza train to with Hakuto Ga Gotoku, the Fist Of The North Star/ Yakuza mashup being released early this year.
Sega has now announced that the three remaining Yakuza games not on PS4 yet- 3,4 and 5, will coming there soon. These are straight-up remasters however, not like Yakuza 1 and 2, originally released on PS2, which recieved the full “Kiwami” remake treatment. The games are confirmed to be running at 1080p at 60fps.
Here is the schedule of release of the three games in Japan:
- Yakuza 3 – August 9
- Yakuza 4 – Fall 2018
- Yakuza 5 – Spring 2019
Yakuza 3 follows the story of Kazuma Kiryu finally retiring from his Yakuza life and starts his own orphanage house, but then gets roped in again to Yakuza business. Yakuza 4 features multiple playable characters for the first time where you play as snazzy loan shark Akiyama, tough man Saejima who just escaped from jail, police officer Tanimura as well as Kiryu. Yakuza 5 continues the multiple characters arc, which now includes a grown-up Haruka on her mission to become an idol.
