Where Winds Meet’s First Major Expansion Adds New Region Hexi

The jianghu is expanding into the desert, as developer Everstone Studio and publisher NetEase Games announced the next update to the global release of open world wuxia action-RPG with soulslike combat Where Winds Meet is adding a whole new region.

This is first revealed in a livestream, a recap of which can be found here:

The new region, Hexi (for those unfamiliar with Mandarin pronunciations, say it like “Her-she” or “Hershey,” you can here it said in the livestream recap video) is a new region players can explore, with three new story chapters that will unlock from this March until May.

Hexi itself is split into three major maps, with nearly 20 sub-regions. Expect to face 11 new unique bosses, complete 7 new Jianghu Legacies (more intricate side quests), and more general side quests. It’s mostly made of a new desert map, but not entirely.

Interestingly, the Hexi expansion of Where Winds Meet isn’t taking place during the Song Dynasty, it takes place in the previous Tang Dynasty. Expect a more cinematic approach to the storytelling, with some point of the story players get to embody historical characters.

On top of that, Where Winds Meet will also be adding two new Martial Arts (movesets), one for the Umbrella and another for the Rope Dart weapon.

Spring Dreamscape is an offensive Umbrella-style Martial Art with endless combos that can deal with large crowds. Meanwhile Fleeting Clouds is a new Rope Dart Martial Arts that’s big on wide area-of-effect attacks.

The Hexi expansion for Where Winds Meet launches on March 6, with pre-loading now available. Where Winds Meet is free-to-play and out now on PS5, PC, iOS and Android.
