Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood – 5 Tips To Make You A Better Garou

Being in a small pack of werewolves taking down corporations polluting the planet that’s accelerating its doom is no easy feat. Thankfully, in Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood, your player character Cahal is one mean badass.

That doesn’t mean it’s going to be an easy ride, however. Here are 5 tips we have for those starting out on this action-RPG.

1- Get these skills first

Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood has a simple skill tree that you can upgrade Cahal’s abilities. They require 1, 2, 3 or 4 skill points to unlock.

These are some of the ones we recommend you gun for first:

  • Tactical: Electric Bolts (1 Skill Point) – crossbow bolts can destroy cameras, reinforcement gates and turrets
  • Combat: Heavy- Strength Of The Will (2 Skill Points) – Crinos Heavy stance have reduced damage, adds more health
  • Combat: General – Regenerative Metabolism (1 Skill Point) – Crinos can gain more health by hitting enemies after using Healing.
  • Combat: General – Wild Strength (2 Skill Points) – Healing blows enemies back, adds more health

This should give you more survivability early on, but also lets you easily bypass cameras, which can cover a large area that blocks you from sneaking.

Also, Earthblood lets you reset your skills with no penalty. Once you unlock the hub world, talk to Yfen and ask for one to divvy up the skill points differently.

2- Bond With The Spirits

As a Garou, or a werewolf, Cahal is spiritually in tune with nature. After you unlock the main hub world and talk to Ynifr, you can approach trees, plants and rocks that shimmers and talk to them.

Doing these offer spirit points (XP) so you can unlock more skills.

And this can be done while you are infiltrating the Endron industrial complex as well. Search for plants on desks and decorative rocks while you are in these locations. Even overgrowth on walls or on top of fertilizers. As long as they are shimmering, you can interact with them for that XP boost. You’ll need to use Umbral Vision first before the prompt appears.

3- Be the good boy

As a werewolf, Cahal can shapeshift into three forms: the Homid (human), the Lupus (Wolf) and the Crinos (Werewolf- used exclusively in combat).

If you’re going to play it stealth, it’s best practice to just stay in Lupus form. Lupus form will make enemies be more suspicious (and thus will more likely get you to enter combat), but you also move a lot faster as a wolf.

Using it wisely by timing when to sprint across cover will negate that. Always repeat press the sprint button to get the burst of speed.

Also, if you need to interact with doors or takedown enemies, don’t change to Homid first. The context button prompts will still appear and Cahal will morph back to human form to do the actions. Which should shave some more time and get back to sneaking.

4- Takedown enemies near half-wall covers

On the same note, Cahal can’t carry bodies and if a dead body is spotted the whole room will be on full alert (without a way to return to normal, unless you enter combat).

So if you need to takedown enemies, prioritise enemies that are standing behind or in front of half-wall covers.

If they are leaning in front of the said cover, Cahal will pull them to the other side, killing and hiding the body in the process.

5- Anger Management

Cahal can carry 3 flasks of drinks, and each flask will increase his rage by 2 points. Rage is your special meter, used for special attacks during combat. So it’s wise to drink up at least one flask before going hog wild.

Certain dialogue choices can also lead Cahal to build up rage meter. Especially when talking to Endron workers. Hearing things such as how the corporation is exploiting the environment will rile up Cahal as well.

Enemy takedowns also build up rage (even more is you have the right skill). So you also make an upcoming battle easier by killing enemies using stealth first.

And lastly, you don’t carry unused rage meter after combat ends. So don’t be too stingy about when to use it.
