Free-to-play looter shooter Warframe is getting full cross-play and cross-save on all platforms.
Revealed at TennoCon 2021, developers Digital Extremes also revealed that Warframe is coming to mobile devices as well, with cross-play and cross-save.
During the live show, the developers showcased the game running a squad from different platforms. PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and mobile players can play together. One of the devs also switched platforms mid-way, from mobile to Xbox, carrying the same account, to demonstrate cross-save live on stream.
Digital Extremes is also committed to having all major updates ship simultaneously across all platforms. The last few updates have so far been following this trend. Previously, PC players get the updates first.
The features are currently in development, but there is no target release date yet, so despite the live demonstration this might still be early days. But it’s good to see a hard confirmation like this, and to know that cross-play and cross-save apply to all platforms, not just the not-PlayStation ones.
TennoCon 2021 also revealed the much-anticipated The New War expansion, featuring an “ambitious” new cinematic quest where, for the first time in the game, you’ll be playing as various characters from other factions.
