Voxel-Based Factory Builder Sim Foundry Heading To Steam, Demo Now Available

Foundry is a factory builder sim 5 years in development by developer Meder Dynamics, and it’s heading to Steam as part of the next Steam Next Fest, October 3-10.

The PC game was previously only available in alpha preview via itch.io.

In Foundry, you are out here to build a factory “in an infinite simulated voxel world”. Mine resources to research and build machines that later need to be automated. The machines require resources as well as power, so proper logistical planning when expanding is key to avoiding some expected chain reactions. The game is played in the first person.

In other words, if you like games like Factorio or Satisfactory, you’ll probably going to like Foundry.

But with voxels, all of the terrain and objects in the world can be demolished, making room for more machines for your factory. And the layout of the factory is bounded to the rigid grid system thanks to the world being made out of voxels. This does not mean all the objects in the world are all blocky, however.

As part of Steam Next Fest, a demo is available for Foundry, letting you try the game’s take on factory building, either solo or multiplayer. There is no limit to how many players you can have in a server, interestingly enough, but it’s recommended for 2-4 players.

The demo is already live right now if you want to give it a try ahead of the game’s release on Steam and ahead of the upcoming Steam Next Fest.
