Virtua Fighter 5 REVO Coming To PS5, Xbox Series X|S And Nintendo Switch 2

Revealed in a new Virtua Fighter Direct is the upcoming release of Virtua Fighter 5 REVO on consoles.

Released on PC earlier this year, this new iteration of Virtua Fighter 5 will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S as well as on Nintendo Switch 2. Rollback netcode and cross-play across all platforms (including the PC Steam version) have been confirmed.

Plus, there will be new DLC for Virtua Fighter 5 REVO.

Virtua Fighter 5 REVO is the second wave of Sega reviving the long-dormant Virtua Fighter series. After Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown was released in 2010, it took a full 10 years before it was revived with a remaster: Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown, released only on PS4. Virtua Fighter 5 REVO is more or less a port of that to PC, but now with rollback netcode and a new balance update (which did get released for Ultimate Showdown as well).

Now console players can jump in on the latest iteration of Virtua Fighter 5 alongside those already playing on PC.

No release date for Virtua Fighter 5 REVO on consoles were given yet.

New Virtua Fighter Game Teases New Look For Wolf

Sega is still working on that new Virtua Fighter game, still unnamed and only referred to as the New Virtua Fighter Project.

That game, developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, just teased a new character: Wolf Hawkfield. Wolf has been a mainstay in the series, but this wrestler has taken a heel turn and looks much more menacing (in a good, fun, “now this is ‘rasslin’!” way).

A behind-the-scenes interview with Art Director Ryo Shibasaki hinted that this new Virtua Fighter game is set a some time in the future, moving the timeline of the world, but didn’t specify by how much.

Given how much different poster boy Akira and Sarah Bryant looked in a previous trailer, as well as Wolf here, it’s probably a big time skip to have aged the cast, but not too far that they’ve been replaced by the new generation.
