Time flies. Riot’s new free-to-play FPS Valorant is entering Act III (Season 3) of content starting tomorrow.
Act III will bring a new map, Icebox, starting October 13. The map, set in the arctic wilderness, will enter the competitive rotation on October 27.
There will be a new agent added to Act III- Skye. Though she won’t be available until October 27. The Australian can heal teammates and summon animals- some directly controllable by the player for a short time.
The new battlepass for Act III arrives on October 13, with revamped weekly mission progress and extra epilogue tiers. The competitive ranking is also getting a bit of a refresh which includes the following changes:
- Upgrade that Act Rank Badge with the next Competitive Act
- Rank queue lowered from 6 tiers to 3 tiers, for tighter matchmaking
- Select your preferred server and improve your ping
- Immortal+ rank outcomes are decided 100% by wins and losses
Lastly, free-for-all Deathmatch mode is also getting some tweaks as well. It includes the following changes:
- 14 players
- Previously 10 players
- Objective: First to 40 kills, or most kills at 9 minutes.
- Previously first to 30 kills, or most kills at 6 minutes.
- Kill Reloads: On every kill, players get an immediate full reload of their active weapon (machine guns get 30 bullets back).
- With increased player density, we want to make sure people aren’t stuck reloading.
- UAV: Every time you respawn, a radar sweep reveals the current location of all enemies.
- This helps players quickly pick up on their surroundings when they respawn, and helps them deal with any nearby campers that are lying in wait.
- Previously had a radar sweep every 5 seconds.
- XP Gains – Increased from 500 XP to 900 XP
Valorant is now available on PC, for free.
