Here’s the pitch for Unloop, the relatively new-ish VR puzzler game by developer Superposition Null and Estonian indie publisher CM Games: What if you solve co-op puzzles on your own, through the power of time loops?
That’s really all you need to know about this retro-futuristic puzzler.
You’re in a room, figure out how to get out, and you’ll likely need help to solve them, your own. Need to press two buttons at the same time that you can’t reach without another person? Do another loop and go press that other button while your past self press the previous one. Need to get a keycard over an obstacle? Throw it, and have your future self catch it.
You’re setting alley-oops where you’re the alley-er as well as the oop-er. And you’ll do this, spawning more and more of your past selves until you complete it.
Think Super Time Force, but instead of killing people in a 2D scroller shoot-’em-up, you’re solving puzzles.
The real magic of Unloop is that it’s a VR game, and having that extra physicality adds to the drama of working together with your past and future selves. The game also records your mic if one is enabled. Content creators like Occi perfectly demonstrates: you can set up recurring gags by interacting with the your past projections.
Unloop is like reacting live to your own streams’ clips, over and over, as creative streamers like Jerma985 once did, but in video game form. And you too can experience this moment too, thanks to the perfectly set up puzzles that encourages this.
Unloop has been out for a while now, released back in November 2025, but it’s getting its much-deserved buzz recently thanks to content creators’ more recent playthroughs of this puzzler that really demonstrated its potential.
More recently, indie game RAD: Repeat After Death also toyed with the concept of self-time loops, in a more straightforward manner like Super Time Force did.
Unloop is available now on PC (Steam), Meta Horizon Store and PICO Store. A VR headset is required. A demo is available.
