Underspace Gets Its First Big Content Update

Space pilot sim Underspace has its first big content update since its Early Access launch. The Gods & Corpses update brings some new features to the game which includes the following additions:

  • Added Steam Achievements
  • Massive memory optimization to improve load times and framerate
  • Planetary interiors to explore
  • Data acquisition: Ships will drop data packets that reveal new, hidden locations on the map
  • Updated bosses with added attacks and more difficult engagement mechanics
  • Fast travel enabled (if you’ve completed the main campaign and want to freeroam)
  • New paint types and ship colors
  • Overall quality of life improvements and fixes

Underspace has you play as Kardoz, a former nobleman stripped of his title and wealth and must now live as a Starchaser. A freelancer pilot more or less, but you evoke the Freelancer name like that in this genre, which Underspace does take cues from alongside the Wing Commander series. You are essentially free to pursue your trade in any way. Cargo hauling. Pirating. Smuggling. You name it.

However, Underspace’s universe has some Lovecraftian undertones. There are boss fights and the creatures that float in space are huge, menacing, and may or may not deal frenzy damage.

If you love dogfighting (i.e. aerial combat with space ships), the ability to traverse an open world, ship customisation and messing with systems, check out Underspace.

Our impressions of the game were positive outside of various bugs we encounter, but publisher Camlann Game and developer Pastaspace Interactive have been regularly updating the game with hotfixes and bug fixes.

Underspace is now available on PC (Steam) via Early Access.
