Unbeatable Demo Now Available On PS5

Unbeatable, the rhythm adventure game where music is illegal and you do crimes, now has its demo available on PS5.

The demo contains a vertical slice on what to expect from this game by developer D-Cell and publisher PlayStack, as well as sample the many tracks and have a feel of its unique take on rhythm games.

If you’re familiar with the game, this demo is a bit different from the previously released Unbeatable White Label demo. But it does contain an arcade mode where you can just play through all the songs, including music featured in White Label, which features a song from fellow music-themed indie game No Straight Roads as a neat little collab.

Unbeatable follows the adventure of Beat and her band on the run. The game has been in development for a long while since it began as a Kickstarter project, enough to have a re-reveal trailer.

Outside of its stellar art style that blends 2D sprites and 3D environments and (so far) kick-ass setlist of original music, Unbeatable’s big deal is how you navigate the rhythm lanes. The notes travel sideways, and two-ways: and you need to press two buttons to either hit notes or jump/duck over obstacles. It’s presented as Beat beating the living daylights of these oncoming music notes (with the help of another band member if you’re holding two buttons down.

It’s an interesting take on gameplay for rhythm game hounds, and for everyone else the premise and adventuring gameplay could hook you into playing rhythm games if it doesn’t have skins of popular artists (like Fortnite Festival) or funky peripherals.

Unbeatable has no release date yet. The game’s demo is available on PS5 (including on PS Store Asia) as well as on PC (Steam).
