EA’s indie two-player split-screen co-op adventure game A Way Out has gone gold. That means development is finished and physical copies will now start to print. This was announced by its lead designer, the eccentric Josef Fares over on Twitter.
#awayout has gone golden. I can't even describe my excitement. Get ready on March 23.

A Way Out was announced at last year’s EA Play event (basically EA’s E3 press conference but not as part of E3). This is developed by Hazelight, a new development team by Fares he founded after the success of the 2012 indie game Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons, which incorporated co-op and a unique gameplay mechanic that emphasised the story in a neat way. A Way Out is build from the same idea, but the co-op adventure is now set in the ’70s about two dudes, Leo and Vincent, breaking out of prison and the hijinks that ensues afterwards.
The game is also surprisingly cheap. It is only RM99 on PS Store Asia and is priced at $34.90 SGD (roughly RM103). The game encourages you to play with someone in a couch co-op style but it will also allow online multiplayer. Interestingly, the other player does not need to even own the game, as long as one person has the game, the other person can download a free trial to play together, no extra purchase required.
Given the price, and generosity of the trial pass system, it may bode to be a short, but hopefully sweet, experience. EA is not in the best of light among gamers currently, so maybe A Way Out can help EA find.. a way out.. of this current situation.
A Way Out will be released on March 23rd for the PS4, PC (via Origin) and Xbox One.
