With Gran Turismo Sport looming, more details of the series debut to the PS4 have emerged. One thing in particular that we noticed is that the campaign mode won’t be as feature-filled like previous numbered titles.
Talking to Australian money-saving site Finder (via GTPlanet), series creator Kazunori Yamauchi stated that right now the developers are solely focusing on finishing Gran Turismo Sport and supporting it post-launch with DLCs.
“Gran Turismo 7 is not currently planned. All our studios are focused on Gran Turismo Sport and, once it is out, the DLC that follows afterwards.”
Last year, Yamauchi mentioned that Gran Turismo Sport isn’t just a side game until the next numbered title.
“For me, Gran Turismo Sport is Gran Turismo 7. Gran Turismo Sport is something that marks the beginning of a new generation or era. When you consider Gran Turismo 1-6 as the first era, GT Sport marks a new generation moving forward,” he said.
So don’t hold your breath for a ‘proper’ sequel to arrive anytime soon. Good news is, the stable of 177+ cars may end up growing to 500 before the developers move on to their next project, which is more likely to be Gran Turismo Sport 2.
