The Sims 4 is getting a free update alongside the release of the new Cottage Living expansion. So for those that decide to skip or wait until the expansion eventually goes on sale, you still have new content (and bug fixes) to keep you.. content.
Now you can create your own pond or put down bodies of water that is not a swimming pool in your lot. The water tool is free for everyone and lets you make ponds. Ponds will be populated by critters, such as mosquitoes, ducks, swans and alligators.
There are different styles of water you can place, as well as a new shrubs category that includes new plants that complement a pond.
There are also some new additions when it comes to food. You can order pizza since the 2000 original game, but to keep up with the times, now Sims can order any kind of food through a delivery service. The Zoomers Food Delivery Service can be ordered through the phone or from the refrigerator.
Also, Sims can now cook together. Even children can help out with cooking, so hopefully, the AI will stop making their own meal whilst a Sim is already cooking a group meal.
Lastly, a major feature that was previously available only in The Sims 4 Seasons expansion is now available for free. The Calendar is now part of the base game, so you can see events like birthdays, school and work schedules and festivals in one handy screen. Plus, you can also book events through the calendar.
You can find the full patch notes here.
The Sims 4 Cottage Living expansion pack is out now on PS4, PC (Steam, Origin), and Xbox One.
