The Sims 4 Horse Ranch Expansion Pack Announced

The next expansion pack for The Sims 4 isn’t horsing around, we’re finally getting horses in the Horse Ranch Expansion Pack.

Horses were introduced in The Sims 3 as part of the Pets expansion, and The Sims 4’s equivalent expansion to that, Cats And Dogs, does not include horses. So now we’re getting an expansion dedicated to the caretaking of these majestic creatures with a rustic, American West themed expansion.

The Sims 4 Horse Ranch expansion includes the ability to raise, train, and bond with Horses, as well as interact with Mini Goats and Mini Sheep.

Horses can be ridden into town. Horses have four different Skills to develop (Temperament, Agility, Jumping, and Endurance).

The expansion will also include a new world, Chestnut Ridge, and as you can expect, it has a rural American western town theme to it. The town includes a dance hall, an equestrian park and a bar.

New events include a Ranch Gathering and a Ranch Animal Day, which Sims can host.

Sims can also live a in ranch, and with comes the experience of working in one. From mucking a Horse Bed to harvesting Prairie Grass for the Animal Feeder. Sims can also brew Nectar (a stand-in for various alcohol drinks… but not really alcoholic in the world of The Sims) by stomping on fruit, potatoes and even trash. Nectar can be aged at Nectar Racks, and then be sold.

The Horse Ranch expansion also includes Native American culture representation as well, as there are food, home items and clothing that reflect said culture. The Sims team not only is working with a sensitivity reader, but also will be making a donation to Sacred Healing Circle, a “100% Indigenous founded and led organization working to support Indigenous communities through preserving traditional methodologies and practices, including the Native American Horse Preservation and Research Program”.

If The Sims 4 Cottage Living brings the experience of rural living from a British context, the Horse Ranch expansion adds a bit of countryside living as seen in the US. This pack should be interesting for Simmers who wants to explore different settings and live away from the suburbs and cities. And fans who have been waiting for the arrival of horses after so long of a wait. But not as game-changing and integral as the previous Growing Together expansion.

The Sims 4 Horse Ranch expansion will be released on July 20 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, EA App, Origin), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
