2K has released a big info drop for Gearbox’s upcoming looter-shooter and Borderlands spin-off, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
Unlike Borderlands, Wonderlands have you create your own character, the Fatemaker as the game calls it. Not only you can customise their looks, but you can also multiclass, picking skills from six different skill trees to mix-and-match.
The first two of the six classes have been revealed. The first is the Stabbomancer. It’s a combination of a rogue that can do magic spells. Stabbomancers can disappear into the shadows and deal greater damage when in this stealth mode. They can also summon magic whirling blade as an AOE spell- as the “mancer” part of the name implies.
The skill tree, yet to be revealed, will see Stabbomancers specialising in making critical hits and inflicting status effects. They’re glass cannons, but they are fast, can evade damage, and also fire guns while sprinting. It’s also described as a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none class.
The next class revealed is the Brr-Zerker. As the pun in the name suggests, the class is a berserker with cryo magic, focusing on ice and melee. Melee is expanded in Wonderlands to the point that you can equip different ones, and Brr-Zerkers make use of it with a skill that have them leap and home into enemies from a distance. Smash.
Brr-Zerkers can also channel their ice powers to the guns, so they shoot bullets that can freeze and shatter enemies, or just rip and tear in close quarters combat if you pick up a life leech skill that gives health back from fallen enemies.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands takes place in a tabletop gaming session with Tiny Tina and friends. You will be exploring fantasy worlds inspired by high fantasy with a Borderlands twist.
It’s still mainly an FPS and guns and loot and up to 4-player multiplayer is still the focus, but it’s experimenting a lot more with new gameplay systems and other addition to the usual Borderlands formula.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will be out on March 25, 2022 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Epic Games Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The PC version is exclusive to Epic on launch, but will still be coming to other stores later in 2022.
