Heihachi Mishima is dead, they say. He won’t return, they say. Reina is Heihachi reincarnated as a cute girl, they say. But at EVO 2024, Bandai Namco and the Tekken Project team revealed the third DLC character for Year 1 of Tekken 8: Heihachi Mishima.
Heihachi isn’t dead. He’s just locked behind paid DLC.
The trailer shows a new look of the old man that refuses to die known for his Mishima fighting style as well as questionable parenting practices (something involving tossing a kin off a cliff). There’s also a look on a dojo training people in the Mishima fighting style, including some students pulling off dashes.
Heihachi will be the third DLC character for Tekken 8 following Eddy Gordo and Lidia Sobieska. Expect Heihachi to drop in Fall (Q4) this year.
Also, Tekken 8’s story mode will also be expanded with a new chapter as a free update.
Finally, Bandai Namco also revealed that it’s collaborating with Nike to create the Nike Air Fomaposite One sneakers with designs inspired by Jin Kazama and known sneakerhead Kazuya Mishima. The new kicks will be available in-game as cosmetics, though there are also real, limited-edition sneakers available for purchase by EVO 2024 attendees.
Tekken 8 is out now on PS5, PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S. Check out our review of the game here.
