Tekken 8 Reveals Next DLC Character Lidia And Plenty Of Free Content

At EVO Japan 2024, Bandai Namco revealed a new trailer for Tekken 8, highlighting the roadmap of what’s to come to the recently released fighting game.

The stinger at the end revealed the next DLC character, the second of four in the Year 1 Season Pass. And it’s the Prime Minister of Poland herself, Lidia Sobieska.

Lidia made her Tekken debut as the final DLC character in Tekken 7. And she’s now back. Lidia will arrive later this Summer (Q3).

The free updates coming are pretty significant. Alongside the expected balance changes (“battle updates” as the trailer refers it to), you can expect the following to come as part of Season 1 of Tekken 8:

  • New stage: Seaside Resort
  • Photo Mode
  • New chapter to Main Story (featuring Eddy Gordo)
  • Online Practice mode
  • Ghost VS Ghost

Since launch, Tekken 8 has also released an item shop, featuring costumes that requires the purchase of a premium currency, and a Battle Pass equivalent, making this a live service game of sorts. Which should explain the rather generous free content updates in store. It’s rare to see a new stage offered for free in a fighting game.

Tekken 8 is out now on PS5, PC (Steam) and Xbox Series X|S. Check out our review here.
