Split Fiction On PC Won’t Require The EA App, Steam Deck Verified

Ahead of its launch, new details for Hazelight and EA’s upcoming co-op game Split Fiction has emerged.

The game on PC is Steam Deck Verified and also “Steam Native”. The latter means that you only need to install Steam to run and play the game, not requiring the EA App at all.

This is a similar situation seen in Hazelight’s previous game, It Takes Two, and EA’s latest AAA game release, Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Also, if you have a widescreen monitor on PC, Split Fiction also supports wider aspect ratios, allowing you and your local co-op partner to really make use of that wider screen to see more of the sci-fi/fantasy worlds you’ll be journeying through.

Here’s all the PC-focused features confirmed for Split Fiction:

  • Steam Native (EA App not required to launch the game)
  • Steam Deck Verified
  • Cross-play across PC/consoles (EA account required)
  • Ultrawide (21:9, 32:9 aspect ratio) support

In addition, here are the PC specs requirement for Split Fiction. And as the Steam Deck Verified mark suggests, the game is optimised for lower-end PCs, which is good to see.

On PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Split Fiction is also confirmed to be running at 60 FPS and at 4K resolution (1080p for Xbox Series S).

Split Fiction sees Mio and Zoe, two writers trapped in a simulation of their ideas and worlds. The reveal trailer showed a lot of no-context gameplay this mandatory co-op game has to offer.

Split Fiction releases on March 7 for the PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, EA App) and Xbox Series X|S.
