Hazelight Studios continues its successful relationship with Electronic Arts with the announcement of their next game, Split Fiction, at The Game Awards 2024.
Like past Hazelight games, Split Fiction features, well, split-screen multiplayer, but this time it’s pushing the quantity of spectacle with its new setting. The reveal trailer just shows so, so many things going on, all of it making use of the split-screen feature. One person may be playing a 3D platformer while the other has to play a 2D platformer, for example.
In Split Fiction, you and your plus one play as Mio and Zoe, two writers the prefer different styles of fiction (one likes sci-fi, the other prefers fantasy) and were somehow got hooked into a machine to design their creative ideas. To escape with the memories in tact, they will have to work together.
Hazelight Studios has been defined by its mandatory co-op. You have to play with another real person, online or off. And for those playing online, Player 2 can play for free as Player 1 only needs to share their Friend’s Pass.
For Split Fiction, this feature now has crossplay so any of your friend on PS5, PC and Xbox Series can play together.
Split Fiction will be out on March 6, 2025 for the PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, EA App) and Xbox Series X|S.
