A collaboration between AirAsia and Sega and Atlus was announced last week, which will see select AirAsia aeroplanes decked out to the theme of Sega and Atlus’s popular video game icons.
The first of such planes has taken off today, as guests abroad the D7 179 flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Bangkok, Thailand are treated to a plane themed by the Blue Blur himself, Sonic The Hedgehog.
Not only were they were flying in style in a plane wrapped with Sonic colours, they were treated with Sonic-themed goodies and “exclusive in-flight experiences”. A special desert called Sonic’s Golden Ring cakes was served.
There are also ads promoting Sega’s upcoming Sonic game release, Sonic X Shadow Generations, within the plane’s cabin.
“We are thrilled to bring Sonic and friends to the skies. It’s a dream come true for us to highlight iconic characters on board and offer this unique experience,” said Izal Azlee, Head of IP Development of AirAsia brand co.
“Now, not only can everyone fly but also enjoy flying with their favourite characters on AirAsia flights around the region.”
Besides the Sonic-themed plane, there will be another AirAsia plane decorated with the black-and-red themes of the Phantom Thieves from Persona 5. It’s not the latest Atlus game release, but Persona 5 has its millions of fans from being the highest-selling game in the franchise.
The collaboration between Sega and Atlus is part of AirAsia’s “The Colour of Connection” campaign.
