Ubisoft Singapore is one of the many studios under the French company, but its claim to fame is that they are credited for creating the naval battles first seen in Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
Now they got the chance to lead their first game, and of course they made their new IP based on what they know best- naval combat.
Skull and Bones is all about the pirate life- getting loot by plundering trade routes and other ships. It’s all about the naval battles where you control one ship as you sail in the Indian Ocean. Mastering the seas currents and wind will give you the edge in these battles as you fire away cannons and mortars.
You will get access to different ships with different but familiar archetypes- examples includes Sharpshooters that can shoot very far but not much armour and Frigates that can soak up damage.
There will be single-player modes as well as multiplayer with a dynamic world influenced each season by everyone’s actions like we’ve seen in For Honor.
Also like For Honor, there has been various games on the PC side that tackled a similar theme, but this is one of the first to have a AAA budget backing them- not counting Rare’s Sea Of Thieves, that is.
Skull And Bones is set to release sometime in Fall 2018 for the PS4, PC and Xbox One.
