Shadow Arena is the new action battle royale from the makers of MMORPG Black Desert, Pearl Abyss. After several beta tests have concluded, the developer announced that the game will be releasing this May.
It will be a Steam Early Access release, so development work will still go once it’s live for everyone. The game will support 14 languages on launch, including English, Indonesian, Thai and Turkish. And expect a new playable Hero coming with the Early Access launch too.
Pearl Abyss are happy with the state of the final beta test for Shadow Arena, which happened last week, with more player retention and viewer numbers on Twitch increased from previous tests.
Shadow Arena utilises the core mechanics of Black Desert, as well as its setting, but tweaked it to fit the battle royale flavour. 40 players enter the arena, grind for better gear by defeating mobs, and fight to be the last person standing.
There are new, nifty ideas that Pearl Abyss brought to the table with Shadow Arena. You can read more of our impressions of a previous beta test for the game here.
Shadow Arena will be out on May 21st on PC via Steam Early Access.
