Sea Of Thieves Suffering Some Launch Issues As Player Count Reaches 1 Million

Shiver me timbers, that's a lot of players

Yarr, Sea Of Thieves, the co-op focused pirate adventure by Rare, is suffering some launch issues. Many players will see some problems logging in, and now the servers are getting closed for maintenance on March 22nd. For a game that requires constant internet connection, that’s bad.

But Rare is being upfront with what’s happening. As revealed in a new developer video, the current issues to logging in is being discussed and explained. The current number of players playing is something that Rare did not expect- it’s three or four times more than the numbers they seen in the last few betas and one million unique players have tried Sea Of Thieves, and that’s good. And the video is even better.

Some of the current issues of the game such as troubles logging in at peak time (9PM-2AM GMT), delayed rewards and achievements, items going missing temporarily and performance issues on Xbox One X, are all addressed, with some temporary fix suggestions while the developers are working on a proper fix.

Sea Of Thieves is Rare’s first game in quite some time, and it’s the first to have a live system. Such outages is unfortunately commonplace on newly launch online-only games, but hopefully the servers can cope with the tide of players eager to set sails on the high seas.

Sea Of Thieves is out now on the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.
