Samsung Galaxy A32 5G First Impressions

There’s plenty of new smartphones coming every year, but 2021 see more phones supporting 5G coming to the market, even affordable ones too.

Enter the Samsung Galaxy A32 5G. This mid-range smartphone is the cheapest one from the South Korean brand should you wish to ready up for the 5G future here in Malaysia. And the folks at Samsung Malaysia was kind enough to have us take a look at this new phone and put it to its paces.

And by that, we mean a lot of mobile gaming tests. This is gaming site after all, not a tech site. So we have different priorities.

What’s In The Box?

The Samsung Galaxy A32 5G comes in your usual white box packaging, and inside you’ll find:

  • The phone
  • USB Type-C cable
  • Charger
  • Warranty and quick guide manuals

Essentially, what you’d expect. But with some phones not come equipped with a cable and charger, this is some reassuring info that no, you are not being assumed to be a consumer that buys a new phone each year and thus have too many of these laying around.

Initial Impressions

The Galaxy A32 5G is one tall phone. It’s a 6.5-inch display, but with a 20:9 resolution ratio which makes it really wide when turned in landscape mode, and really tall when wielding it one-handed.

It also has quite some heft in weight, but it’s still feel good in the hands. Unless you hate fingerprint and dust-collecting plastic that’s part of its exterior. A cover is highly recommended.

Gaming wise, our initial tests so far seems decent. This is not supposed to be a gaming phone, and was not designed as such. But, should you want to pick this up as a daily driver, you definitely can play games on it. We’ll share the full results of our testing in our full review, but so far, any games we’ve thrown on the Galaxy A32 5G has been playable.

Obviously, the main selling point here is the new 5G connectivity- faster than the standard 4G LTE internet settings you have on a mobile device right now. But Malaysia doesn’t have 5G yet. It’s something we’ll be talking about more in our full review.

So far, the Samsung Galaxy A32 5G seems like a decent mid-range phone, as long as you don’t start comparing it with the normal Galaxy A32. We’ll report back with a full review soon.
