Ubisoft has introduced a new virtual assistant. Sam functions similarly to Google Assistant, Apple’s Siri or Amazon’s Alexa, but it solely focuses on helping you with games. Ubisoft games.
This new trailer demonstrates how it works. It is currently in beta, part of the Ubisoft Club app, but is only available in English in Canada for the moment.

Most of tasks you can ask Sam to do are simple, mundane tasks (ask them where to buy a Ubisoft game or a trailer) but there are more interesting usage, like stats tracking. Simply pulling up play hours and comparing it with friends is fine, but seeing Sam suggesting tips how to improve your Rainbow Six Siege game is rather intriguing.
However, limiting its use for only games, and only Ubisoft games for that matter means you really need to be a fan of the publisher to really see its usage.
Is this what the AI research was leading up to? Or is Sam is just sneakily gathering data for a new Splinter Cell? It’s a niche product, so it’s interesting that Ubisoft even considered this.
