GSC Game World’s Stalker 2 (or its full official title S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart Of Chernobyl) will not be coming out on April 28 as expected, as the developers announced a seven-month delay.
The release date is now set for December 8.
“S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is the biggest project in the history of GSC, and it requires thorough testing and polishing,” the statement reads, delivered in the in-vague delay delivery format: an image-with-no-captions-tweet.
“This decision is not an easy one, but we are doing the best possible to deliver you a game that can live up to the expectations.”
Stalker 2 is the follow-up to the original cult hit from 2007, known for its immersive and survival elements in an FPS-RPG-survival-horror game, and how janky and buggy it was. So if more time is needed, then they can the time they need.
Stalker 2 will be running on Unreal Engine 5, and will have you explore a post-apocalypse Eastern European open world where mutants and human stalkers roam free. Survival mechanics remain the centerpoint of the experience, as you make your way through its non-linear story. A multiplayer mode will be added as a post-launch free update.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart Of Chernobyl is now set for release on December 8 for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) and Xbox Series X|S.
