The rumour mill is spurring strong with talks of the inevitable next-gen consoles. And the latest of which involves when the next Xboxes, under the codename Scarlett family, will be announced.
According to French gaming site Jeuxvideo, the next-gen Xbox might be announced at this year’s E3, with a launch set for 2020. Additionally, they are also reporting the possible specs of the two new Xboxes, codenamed Lockhart and Anaconda respectively.
Similar to previous rumours, the Lockhart will be the cheaper SKU with the Anaconda being the pricier, more powerful version ala the Xbox One S and Xbox One X. Lockhart will be shipped without a disc drive and both consoles are reported to come with SSDs.
Here’s the specs. Take it with a grain of salt:
Lockhart
- CPU: Custom 8 Cores – 16 zen threads 2
- GPU: Custom NAVI 4+ Teraflops
- RAM: 12GB of GDDR6 memory
- Storage: 1TB NVMe 1 + GB/s SSD hard drive
Anaconda
- CPU: Custom 8 Cores – 16 zen threads 2
- GPU: Custom NAVI 12+ Teraflops
- RAM: 16GB of GDDR6 memory
- Storage: 1TB NVMe 1 + GB/s SSD hard drive
Similar to PS4 and Xbox One, the next-gen Xbox is reported to be powered by AMD with a custom chip based on the Zen architecture.
The report from Jeuxvideo also revealed that Halo Infinite would be a launch title for the console, interestingly.
We shall see how accurate the report is come E3 this June. The reported specs, if true, should mean a significant bump in power as we should expect from a full console generation leap.
