Balatro, the trailblazing indie game that infuses a game of poker with roguelike elements, is getting released on mobile.
First launched on PC, Balatro has proven to be a potent addiction as players play a game of poker with ever-changing goals and deck of cards as they rack up more and more and more points.
And soon it will be even more addictive as it heads its way on mobile. Now you can never escape from that joker card smile.
In some ways, Balatro can be seen as the Vampire Survivors of 2024.
Both games share the following traits:
- a trailblazer in that it’s blend of gameplay haven’t been explored only to spawn multiple contenders within the same year of release
- has some form of high addiction quality
- slightly gambling-coded (though thankfully with no actual gambling as gameplay)
- developed mostly by one person
- is available seemingly everywhere
Balatro also recently had a free update which inlcudes a crossover with Vampire Surviors, among other video game series.
Balatro heads to iOS and Android on September 26. It will also be available on Apple Arcade. The game is out now on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
