Rise Of The Ronin, the next game from Team Ninja and publisher Koei Tecmo, now has a release date.
A new trailer appeared at The Game Awards 2023, featuring more gameplay and story tidbits.
This looks like another Team Ninja game with an action, likely soulslike gameplay. There’s a parry prompt that will trigger some Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty players’ reaction. There are companion characters. But there are horse-riding and grappling hook traversal which are new.
Rise Of The Ronin is set in the Bakumatsu period, right the near end of the Edo period, before the Meiji Restoration. And that’s why the ronins here have revolvers, it’s period-accurate, as players of Like A Dragon: Ishin! are familiar with (which also covered the same time period).
Team Ninja is on a yearly release cadence. Last year they’ve released Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, and the previous year the weird-yet-wonderful Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.
Though unlike the previous games, Rise Of The Ronin is a PlayStation exclusive release, interestingly.
Rise Of The Ronin will be out on March 22, 2024, exclusively for the PS5.
