2019 is the year Riot put the “S” in Riot Games, as they revealed multiple games in the works. But that doesn’t end there. Riot has also made a publishing label, Riot Forge, to publish games created by other external studios.
At The Game Awards 2019, Riot Forge announced two new games, with different genres, and different developers.
The first is Ruined King, developed by Airship Syndicate of Darksiders and Battle Chasers fame. Just like Battle Chasers: Nightwar, Ruined King will be a turn-based RPG. It is set after the events of Burning Tides, featuring various League Of Legends champions as they explore the city of Bilgewater and the Shadow Isles.
From the trailer, it also has that edgy, dark but not too dark tone the developers are known for.
The other game is CONV/RGENCE. This is an action-platformer by Double Stallion Games where you explore the world of Zaun with time-travel powers, and play as Ekko.
Both games carry the subtitle “A League Of Legends Story”.
It’s an exciting time for League Of Legends fans as the MOBA is rapidly expanding into other genres. And this could attract new fans too who might be put off by the original MOBA game.
