Ubisoft Annecy’s next game, Rider’s Republic, has gotten a new release date, as revealed at the Ubisoft Forward 2021 broadcast.
And when it releases, it will support cross-play on all platforms, including for last-gen (PS4, Xbox One) consoles.
While PC and next-gen consoles will see more than 50 players racing and doing events together, last-gen consoles will have that limited to 20 people. Game performance will have to match the performance seen on the last-gen console for parity, should any PC and next-gen console player join them.
Riders Republic also offers cross-progression on all platforms via Ubisoft Connect. Your account progression and saves will be carried over across all platforms.
The multiplayer extreme sports game (and spiritual successor to Steep) gets a new breakdown trailer at the Ubisoft Forward broadcast. The game now features a skate park where you can do sick tricks on your bike and… snowboard while jumping of quarter pipes and pools.
Also, you can now grind on rails.
You’ll be shredding through the various national parks found in USA in five different sports type: biking, skiing, snowboarding, wingsuiting and rocket wingsuiting.
Speaking of extreme, the progression of Riders Republic will see you joining the X Games and signing for brands like Red Bull, for that little bit of authenticity. But it’s still a weird game, you can ride an ice cream bike and also race with rocket-powered wingsuits.
You can still register for the upcoming Riders Republic beta here.
Hopefully the promise of massive multiplayer races and a happening lobby are enough selling points for this iteration of an extreme sports game. Riders Republic releases on September 2 for the PS4, PS5, PC (Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Store), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
