Polyphony Digital has provided a notice to GT Sport players that several data from the racing game Gran Turismo Sport will be transferred to Gran Turismo 7. In fact, the server-side data transfer has already begun since February 15.
Players of GT Sport, especially those that compete regularly in the ranked multiplayer Sport Mode, will be glad to know that Driver Rating (DR) and Sportsmanship Rating (SR) will be carried over. So when you jump to the Test Season of Sport Mode at GT7’s launch, you won’t be starting over from scratch.
Liveries (cars, helmets and suits) and decals will also carry over. As long as it’s been shared as “open to all”, created after December 22, 2017, at 4.30 AM UTC then it should be accessible in GT7. However, likes and comments won’t be carried over, some liveries and decals won’t carry over and some won’t be replicated exactly due to the changes to GT7’s livery editor. Some cars will see a change in their paintable area. Also, the exact wheels won’t be carried over, only the colour.
You can refer to the full post on other changes to expect with the livery transfer to GT7 here.
This is an automatic transfer, no player input is needed. And also it’s technically making a copy of the data: you can still play GT Sport with the ratings, liveries and decals post-transfer.
Gran Turismo 7 will have a plethora of features, including a return of dynamic weather and time, a career mode, a focus on car collecting, and even replays that sync to the music. A full recap of what new and returning features and modes coming to GT7 can be found here.
Gran Turismo 7 will launch on March 4 for the PS4 and PS5.
