Ratchet & Clank is back again. Insomniac Games is making a new entry for the platforming duo for the PS5, with a neat trick that’s surely making use of the console’s fast SSD.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will see the Lombax and his robot friend face inter-dimensional rifts. The reveal trailer shows them hopping in and out of the rifts into completely new planets- filled with life- all transitioned within the few seconds that they are stuck in the rift.

The PS5 livestream also shows a good 2 minutes of proper gameplay for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. It’s hectic as expected, and Ratchet’s arsenal of weapons are all-new, but should be in the familiar Insomniac weapon archetypes. A big shotgun, a turret that sprinkles water that freezes enemies, a bomb thrower and a straight-forward pew-pew blaster.
Ratchet also seems to pick up some new moves- a short dash and a closer over-the-shoulder camera toggle can be spotted.
No release date for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, but it’s coming to the PS5. Insomniac Games also revealed another game, Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales. That’s coming by the end of 2020.
