Don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise: Ratchet & Clank deserves to be played at 60fps, and no less than that. Ratchet & Clank (2016) on PS4 is capped at 60fps by default, unfortunately.
But thankfully, Insomniac Games have announced that there will be a new update in April that lets you play the game at silky-smooth 60fps. Well, if you have a PS5 that is.
One of our gripes of the Ratchet & Clank remake is the capped framerate. The PS2 original (and its following sequels) were all running at 60fps, so it’s good to see this game can also be run at that framerate. The frantic shooting and explosions in the combat sequences should look a little better.
Ratchet & Clank (2016) is available for free for everyone with a PS account as part of the Play At Home initiative. It’s still available to claim (until March 31) if you haven’t- and it’s permanently free.
A new Ratchet & Clank game, A Rift Apart, is coming to PS5 this June.
