There’s a murder on the train! The classic setup of a murder mystery is the premise of upcoming point-and-click adventure game Loco Motive, developed by Robust Games and to be published by Chucklefish.
The game was revealed as part of the December 2021 Nintendo Indie World presentation.
Lady Unterwald is found dead on the Reuss Express. And you need to find out not who is the murderer, but why you’re not the murderer. Loco Motive lets you play as three different characters, and each of them is currently the prime suspect of this murder.
Loco Motive is intended to channel all the things you love from a classic point-and-click adventure. Pixel graphics. Silly slapstick comedy. Item puzzles. The usual suspects. But the devs are making it more approachable as well. Direct controls of the characters are available if you don’t like pointing and clicking. Hints to solve puzzles are available in-game, through a hint call-line.
The game started out as the product of the AdvXJam 2020 game jam. A game jam edition of Loco Motive can be found on the dev’s itch.io page here.
Loco Motive will be coming to PC (Steam) as well as Nintendo Switch sometime in 2022.
