Project Motor Racing GT Icons Pack DLC Now Available

Fans of a certain vintage of racing will be glad to know that the second DLC pack for Project Motor Racing is out now. The GT Icons Pack adds nine new cars, split evenly in three different racing categories, plus one new track: Rocky Knoll Raceway.

The GT70 category are for race cars that raced in the 1970s, with race versions of the Chevrolet Corvette C3, Ford Capri and Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0.

The Sports Car 67 features custom low-slung purpose-built race cars: The beautiful Lola T70 Mk 3, the Le Mans-winning Ford GT Mk.IV (labelled in-game as just the Ford Mk.IV) and the Chaparral 2F with its luscious curves and extremely tall rear wing.

The oldest of this vintage collection, the GT60, sees a collection of long-nosed, front-engine beauties that includes the brawny Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport (based on the Corvette C2), the sophisticated Jaguar E-Type Lightweight and the handsome Shelby Daytona Coupe.

Most of these cars has a history racing in America during its time. This specific year and version of the Porsche 911 was the car of choice in the spec-racing series International Race Of Champions (IROC), where the best drivers from Formula 1, NASCAR, USAC (the American open wheel series that subsequently evolved into IndyCar as we know them today).

As for the track, Rocky Knoll Raceway, it’s actually based on the famous roadtrack on that side of the Atlantic, Road America. With two different layouts and good balance of hard braking corners and swooping curves that dares you to go flat out, it’s basically Road America sans the name and full license, a common thing about Project Motor Racing’s tracks, which was not the issue when the previous DLC had to be temporarily delisted.
