Project MBR Is A New Multiplayer Mech Game By Grandia Series Producer

SIEG Games is a developer team lead founded by Grandia, GunGriffon and Lunar series producer Yoichi Miyaji. And today they announced a Kickstarter campaign for a new multiplayer mech action game.

Project MBR (tentative title) is a 5v5 shooter where you control the mechs either from a cockpit view or in the third-person perspective. Set 30 years in the future, players will be switching their mechs between tank, flight and turret forms.

Making use of the battlefield will be part of gameplay, as each map has radar facilities, fixed artillery points and other stations that you can capture to turn the tides of battles to your side. You can command drone companions and change their behaviour to assist you.

As for customisation, SIEG Games is considering weapon combinations (which can be upgraded which later unlocks new mechs), rather than a full part-by-part customisation. This is not a Chromehounds replacement, but the slower-paced combat should evoke the same vibe as Chromehounds and to some extent Mechwarrior. And this game should excite fans of the GunGriffon series, which is a mech action series (compared to Grandia and Lunar which are fantasy RPGs).

Noriyuki Iwadare, the composer of the Grandia series, will be creating the soundtrack.

Project MBR is developed using Unreal Engine 5, is not a free-to-play game and will not have loot boxes.

“Project MBR is being actively developed from a pro-consumer perspective,” says Yoichi Miyaji, who is CEO at SEIG Games. “The team plans to routinely update mechs, battlefields, and other elements of the title in hopes that players will enjoy this refreshing, original take on robot action shooters for a long time to come. We’re excited to launch our Kickstarter campaign today and look forward to bringing this ambitious project to life alongside the hardcore mech community.”

The Kickstarter campaign for Project MBR will launch on March 7. The game is expected to be released in Spring (Q2) 2024 for PS5 and PC via Steam.
