Prison Architect Is Getting A Free Expansion On PC Next Month

Prison Architect, the excellent prison builder and management sim, is getting a new expansion, for free.

The Cleared For Transfer expansion will add a few more features for you to tinker with. Now you can transfer prisoners into a different sector of your prison, one with lower security and special privelages. This can encourage your inmates to be on their best behaviour to get access to the new low security sectors.

You can also make your own security sectors, which can include multiple areas where prisoners of different security levels can roam about in their free time. Shakedowns, tunnel searches and lockdowns can now be done on a per sector basis, rather than them being affected to your whole prison.

Interestingly, Paradox Interactive has announced that they have also secured the publishing rights of Prison Architect for consoles- including PS4, Xbox One and Switch. This means that developer Double Eleven can update future expansions of Prison Architect to those consoles too.

Prison Architect, first launched as a Steam Early Access title, was developed by Introversion Software (of Darwinia fame), before they sold the rights to Paradox. Paradox is now the current publisher, with Double Eleven, which recently opened a new studio in Malaysia, the developer.

The Cleared For Transfer free expansion for Prison Architect will be coming to PC on May 14th.
