Platinum Announced A New IP Is In The Works

PlatinumGames is having a busy year with a lot of ups and downs. Their work on Nier Automata, which is finally out on PS4 and PC, has been a success though their partnership with Microsoft didn’t end well with the cancellation of Scalebound.

They have also brought Bayonetta to PC in tip top condition, with Vanquish to follow suit this week.

During a keynote speech at BitSummit, producer Atsushi Inaba has teased that a new IP is in the works within the studio. However, details are scarce at the moment- the IP is still “formless”, and a new director will helm the project.

It may not be much info, but a new IP by Platinum is itself big news. The team has done a lot of work on other IPs, like the many licensed games with Activision (Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Legend Of Korra) and partnered with various studios like Nintendo (Star Fox Zero) and Konami (Metal Gear Rising Revengeance). But the team has enough ability to craft original experience of their own as we saw with Bayonetta, Vanquish and The Wonderful 101.

Let’s hope Platinum can continue their good form for more years to come.
